Position Overview

The Director of Youth Ministries will be a passionate follower of Jesus, responsible for leading Central’s Youth Ministry, focusing on Middle and High School students. The Director of Youth Ministries will fully participate in the life of Central Reformed Church, work closely with the Education Team, and report to the Lead Pastor.

Job Description
  • Leading a robust youth ministry where students will:

    • Develop and live into their own personal faith in Christ

    • Share in and build upon good memories of their church experience

    • Connect with adult mentors and role models beyond their own home

    • Know and understand the Scriptures, to discern truth and good from lies and sin

    • Maintain a deepening relationship with the church body

    • Know what it means to be a servant of Christ in the world

  • Maintain a youth culture consistent with the values of Central Reformed Church which includes:

    • “Smaller feel” with connection to friends and adult sponsors (to know and be known)

    • Willing volunteers and “buy-in” from families and friends of the program

  • Big picture tasks include:

    • Coordinate and lead regular student gatherings during the academic year

    • Administrate and lead trips and events for students to participate

    • Engaging, equipping, and encouraging adult sponsors from within the church

  • Other responsibilities or opportunities:

    • We are hiring a “Director” role, but understand that this may be a “Pastoral” role

    • Director may have other gifts to share within the church (teaching, administration, etc.)

Skills and Qualifications
  • A clear and passionate testimony of faith in Jesus Christ

  • A learning and growing disciple of Jesus Christ

  • Agreement with the theology of Central Reformed Church, and the Alliance of Reformed Churches

  • Ability to work independently or with minimal direct supervision, but also a team player

  • Director will join a staff which meets bi-weekly

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Strong coordination, organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail

  • Develops and maintains good interpersonal relationships with others within and outside the church

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn new programs

  • High school diploma, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred, Master’s degree welcome
